Syracuse Falls to Wolfpack in Final Game of Season

The Syracuse Orange were defeated by the N.C. State, a team who has won five of their last six games, by the final score of 71-57. The Wolfpack of N.C. State only led Syracuse at halftime, after the Orange led a majority of the first half.

Syracuse was outscored 45-32 in the second half, with both teams playing bench players under three minutes to go. Syracuse forwards Rakeem Christmas and Tyler Roberson dominated the point scoring for the Orange. Christmas had 15 points while Roberson had 16, while both players also combined for 23 total rebounds.

It was the final game for guard Trevor Cooney, a Senior who has had an overall solid season. Cooney finished the game with only eight points, connecting on one three-point attempt. The Orange only had five bench points, something that they have struggled with all season long.

On the other side, N.C. State guards Trevor Lacey and Ralston Turner each had 19 points, combing for eight three-pointers between the two. It was an emoitonal win for N.C. State, as they head into the ACC tournament.

Syracuse will not participate in the ACC tournament, as this was their final game of the season. The sacntions against Syracuse from the NCAA were handed out yesterday, which includes head coach Jim Boeheim being suspended for the first nine ACC games next season.

Not the note Syracuse wanted to end the year on, but the Orange finished the season well above .500 wins. Seeing how Syracuse handles themselves from here on out will be something to watch, but consider the 2015 season fro Syracuse men's basketball to be officially over.
